The surgeons at Central Ohio Surgical Associates are all board certified by the American Board of Surgery. Our highly trained, experienced staff specializes in a wide range of procedures, from general surgery, to vascular surgery and endo-vascular surgery, to bariatric surgery, breast surgery, and laparoscopic procedures. The surgeons are members of numerous professional societies, renowned for their contributions to their individual fields, and active in medical education at all levels.

Buday, Stephen J., M.D. F.A.C.S. at the Metropolitan Surgery West & Metropolitan Surgery East OfficesSpecialties: General & breast surgeryStephen Buday, MD is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has been a board certified surgeon with Metropolitan Surgery since it’s establishment in 1975. He completed his medical degree at the Ohio State University and his surgical residency training at Mount Carmel Health System. Dr. Buday is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Ohio State Medical Association. He is active in education and training of the surgical residents, and is the physician facilitator for the weekly Journal Club. Dr. Buday participates in Multidisciplinary Tumor Board and has a special interest in breast diseases and endocrine disorders.

Chambers, Lowell W., M.D., F.A.C.S. at the Metropolitan Surgery West & Metropolitan Surgery East OfficesSpecialties: General & breast surgeryLowell Chambers, MD is a board certified surgeon with the Metropolitan Surgery division and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky and his surgical training was completed at Mount Carmel Health System. Dr. Chambers has extensive trauma experience as a result of his service to our country as a Navy surgeon in Iraq. He has a special interest in trauma and critical care, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic surgery. Dr. Chambers is active in resident education, serving as the Associate Program Director for the Mount Carmel Surgical Residency Program. He has several papers published in peer-reviewed journals. Choban, Patricia S., M.D., F.A.C.S. at the Mid Ohio West OfficeSpecalties: Bariatric, breast surgery & human nutrition
Patricia Smith Choban, M.D. is a board certified, talented surgeon with Mid Ohio Surgical Associates and serves as the program director for bariatric surgery for the Mount Carmel West Hospital and is an adjunct professor of human nutrition at The Ohio State University. Dr. Choban completed her medical doctorate at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. She finished her residency at Hampton Veterans Administration Medical Center Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine, where she also completed a fellowship in Clinical Nutrition. Dr. Choban is nationally renowned for her work in bariatrics. She was appointed National Faculty for Bariatric Surgery by the American College of Surgeons in 2003 and was appointed to the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) panel reviewing the “LAPBAND” device. Among her professional affiliations are the American Institute of Nutrition, the American Obesity Association, American Society for Clinical Nutrition and American Society of Bariatric Surgeons. She is also a fellow with the American College of Surgeons. In her free time, Dr. Choban enjoys needlework and attending sporting events with her husband and two sons.

Ghaleb Ali Hannun, M.D. is a board certified surgeon specializing in general, breast and vascular surgery with Mid Ohio Surgical Associates.Dr. Hannun attended medical school at Cairo University in Egypt where he completed an internship and residency training. Domestically, he interned at the Wheeling West Virginia Hospital and completed residency training at Mount Carmel Medical Center. Currently, Dr. Hannun serves on several committees for the Mount Carmel Medical Center including chairman of the Credentials Committee, a member of the advisory committee for the Treatment and Bionics Institute, and chief investigator for the Intra-abdominal Sepsis Study among others.He is also a member of the American Medical Association, Columbus Vascular Society, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, Society of Laparoscopic Surgery, American College of Surgeons and the Medical Staff Committee. Dr. Hannun currently resides in Columbus with his wife and son .

Dr. Keith has a special interest in Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) and has performed over one hundred cases in this emerging surgical technique. He is active in the training and education of the surgical residents. Marcus R. Miller, M.D. is a board certified dedicated surgeon at Mid Ohio Surgical Associates.An Ohio native, Dr. Miller completed his undergraduate work at The Ohio State University and finished his medical doctoral work at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. His surgical residency was conducted at Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Active in the medical community, Dr. Miller is a Fellow with the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, Ohio State Medical Association, and the Columbus Medical Association. He is also an elected member of Alpha Omega Alpha.In his spare time, Dr. Miller enjoys watching Ohio State football, traveling soccer and spending time with his son.

Dr. Price completed his residency at Mount Carmel Health. Dr. Price has published numerous papers on bariatric procedures and laparoscopic procedures and is active in the medical community. Dr. Reitz is active with the education and training of the Mount Carmel surgical residents. He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Reitz has special interest in advanced laparoscopic procedures.

Dr. Sinard specializes in general and vascular surgery. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University in Cambridge and his medical degree with distinction from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor. Dr. Sinard completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center. A diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, Dr. Sinard is an active member of the Columbus medical community and serves on the teaching faculty at Mount Carmel Medical Center. He holds membership in the Society of Critical Care Medicine, Columbus Surgical Society, Columbus Vascular Society, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the American Society of General Surgeons. Dr. Sinard has published several papers and has provided lectures on a range of topics, including trauma life support. Dr. Sinard resides in Powell, Ohio, with his wife Susannah and their two children.

He received his medical degree from Wright State University, and completed his surgical residency at Mount Carmel Health. Dr. Turner is the current Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Mount Carmel East. He serves on several hospital committees involving patient safety and hospital efficiency. Dr. Turner is an active participant in the surgical residency program with training and education, and was selected as teacher of the year by the residents in 2009. He is also active in the trauma program at Mount Carmel West Hospital and is an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) physician instructor.
